Ecco the Dolphin: Defender of the Future is set in the 30th century, 500 years after the events of Ecco the Dolphin: Tides of Time. Dolphins and humans have been living together in a cross-species society, and have set out to explore space, offering peace and friendship to all who would welcome it. However, a violent species known as the Foe has decided to conquer Earth. The dolphins and humans drive them to the brink of defeat, and so the Foe seek vengeance on Earth.
The few caretaker dolphins who have been left behind on Earth are not entirely defenseless; they are protected by their creation called the Guardian—a gigantic, sentient being made of a crystalline substance which projects a forcefield over the entire planet. Undeterred, the Foe make suicide attacks on the field, searching for a weak point.
Ecco, a young dolphin who has been training to become a Guardian, is called upon to defend Earth from the Foe. Ecco must use his sonar abilities to navigate the underwater world, solve puzzles, and defeat the Foe’s forces.

The story is engaging, the graphics are beautiful, and the gameplay is addictive. If you’re a fan of Ecco or classic Dreamcast games, then you should definitely check this one out.
