Alien: Isolation – Safe Haven: A Survivor’s Guide
Safe Haven is the third and final add-on content pack for Alien: Isolation, the critically acclaimed survival horror game from Creative Assembly and Sega. Safe Haven introduces a brand new Salvage Mode map, twice the size of any previous Survivor Mode map. Players take on the role of Hughes, a new playable character, and must scavenge for supplies while avoiding the deadly Alien.
Gameplay
Safe Haven’s Salvage Mode is a challenging and rewarding experience that will test even the most skilled Alien: Isolation players. The map is large and complex, with multiple objectives to complete. Players must carefully manage their resources and make strategic decisions in order to survive.
One of the most important decisions players will make is which area to explore first. The Gemini Systems is a large, open area with plenty of resources, but it is also home to the Alien. The Bacchus Apartments are a smaller, more enclosed area with fewer resources, but it is also less likely to be patrolled by the Alien.
Once players have chosen an area to explore, they must begin scavenging for supplies. Supplies can be found in a variety of locations, including lockers, crates, and bodies. Players must be careful not to make too much noise while scavenging, as the Alien is attracted to sound.
In addition to scavenging for supplies, players must also complete a number of objectives in order to progress through the game. These objectives can range from repairing a generator to finding a keycard. Players must carefully plan their routes and avoid the Alien in order to complete these objectives.
Characters
Safe Haven introduces a new playable character, Hughes. Hughes is a scavenger who has been stranded on Sevastopol for months. He is a skilled survivor and is well-equipped to deal with the Alien.
In addition to Hughes, Safe Haven also features a number of other characters, including:
- Amanda Ripley: The protagonist of Alien: Isolation. Amanda is a warrant officer in the Weyland-Yutani Corporation. She is the daughter of Ellen Ripley, the protagonist of the Alien films.
- Axel: A fellow survivor who helps Amanda throughout her journey.
- The Alien: The deadly creature that is hunting Amanda and the other survivors.
Setting
Safe Haven is set on the Sevastopol space station, the same setting as Alien: Isolation. Sevastopol is a large and sprawling space station that is home to a variety of different people and creatures.
The game’s environment is dark and atmospheric, with a constant sense of dread. The player is constantly on edge, never knowing when the Alien will strike.
Reception
Safe Haven has received positive reviews from critics, with many praising the game’s new Salvage Mode map and the addition of Hughes as a playable character. The game has also been praised for its atmosphere and its challenging gameplay.
Overall
Alien: Isolation – Safe Haven is a great addition to the base game, offering a new Salvage Mode map that is twice the size of any previous Survivor Mode map. Play as Hughes and get faster access to the Bolt Gun, Shotgun and EMP Mine. Choose to explore the Gemini Systems or the Bacchus Apartments. If you’re a fan of Alien: Isolation, then you’ll definitely want to check out Safe Haven.
