Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus: A Detailed Review
Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus (AC+ for short) is a 2D fighting game developed by Arc System Works and released in 2008. It is the third installment in the Guilty Gear XX series, and an updated version of Guilty Gear XX Accent Core. AC+ features a number of new additions and changes, including a new character, a new story mode, and a number of gameplay tweaks.
Gameplay
AC+ is a traditional 2D fighting game with a focus on fast-paced, combo-heavy gameplay. Players select one of 25 characters, each with their own unique moves and abilities, and battle against each other in one-on-one matches.
The game’s combat system is deep and complex, with a wide variety of attacks, cancels, and special moves. AC+ also introduces a number of new gameplay mechanics, including the “Burst” system, which allows players to cancel out of combos and other attacks, and the “Roman Cancel” system, which allows players to cancel out of special moves and other actions.
These new mechanics add a new layer of depth and complexity to the game’s combat system, and allow players to express themselves in a more creative and dynamic way.
Characters
AC+ features a roster of 25 characters, including all of the characters from Guilty Gear XX Accent Core, as well as one new character:
- Crow: A Post War Administration Bureau scientist who attacks the cast in the Story mode using mindless clones of Justice.
Each character has their own unique playstyle and abilities, and players can choose the character that best suits their playstyle.
Story Mode
AC+ features a new Story mode, which is a continuation of the storyline from Guilty Gear XX. All characters have a storyline, and the stories cover the major events involving the mystery of Gears, “That Man” and conflict with the Post War Administration Bureau, etc.
The mode uses a full branching path Zapping system with a total of 350 scenarios. This allows players to choose their own path through the story, and experience different endings depending on the choices they make.
Graphics and Sound
AC+ features beautiful 2D graphics with a distinctive anime-style aesthetic. The game’s character models are highly detailed, and the backgrounds are lush and vibrant. The game’s soundtrack is also excellent, with a mix of rock, metal, and electronic music.
Overall
Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus is a fantastic fighting game with gorgeous visuals, a deep and complex combat system, and a memorable cast of characters. It’s a must-play for fans of 2D fighters and anime-style games.
