Summary

Infamous: Festival of Blood (2011)

Introduction

Infamous: Festival of Blood is an action-adventure video game developed by Sucker Punch Productions and published by Sony Computer Entertainment for the PlayStation 3. It was released on October 25, 2011, as a standalone expansion to the Infamous 2 video game, but does not require a copy of Infamous 2 in order to play. The game is set in the fictional city of New Marais, Louisiana, and follows the story of Cole MacGrath, the protagonist of Infamous 2, as he investigates a vampire outbreak in the city.

Gameplay

Infamous: Festival of Blood is an open-world action-adventure game played from a third-person perspective. The player controls Cole MacGrath, who has been infected with a vampire virus and has gained new vampire-like abilities, such as the ability to drain blood from enemies, fly, and use blood to create weapons and shields. The game features a variety of missions, including story missions, side missions, and challenges. In story missions, the player progresses through the game’s narrative, while side missions and challenges offer optional content that can be completed to earn rewards.

The game’s combat system is based on the use of Cole’s vampire abilities. Cole can drain blood from enemies to replenish his health and gain blood points, which can be used to power his vampire abilities. Cole can also use his blood to create a variety of weapons and shields, such as blood claws, blood whips, and blood shields. The game also features a new “Blood Rage” mode, which allows Cole to enter a state of increased strength and power for a limited time.

Story

The story of Infamous: Festival of Blood is set aside from the canon aspect of the Infamous series, being a spoof told by the main protagonist’s friend Zeke Dunbar. The game begins with Cole MacGrath investigating a vampire outbreak in the city of New Marais. Cole soon discovers that the outbreak is being caused by a vampire named Bertrand, who is planning to use the blood of the city’s citizens to create a new race of vampires.

Cole must stop Bertrand and his vampire army before they can carry out their plan. Along the way, he will team up with a variety of allies, including Zeke Dunbar, Lucy Kuo, and Fetch Walker.

Reception

Infamous: Festival of Blood received generally positive reviews from critics. The game was praised for its fun and engaging gameplay, its interesting story, and its new vampire-like abilities. However, the game was also criticized for its short length and its lack of innovation.

Overall

Infamous: Festival of Blood is a fun and bloody standalone expansion to the Infamous series. The game features new characters, powers, and a ton of action. If you’re a fan of the Infamous series, or if you’re just looking for a fun and action-packed game to play, then I highly recommend checking out Infamous: Festival of Blood.
