Tom Clancy’s The Division: Underground (2016) Review

Tom Clancy’s The Division: Underground is the first DLC expansion for the popular third-person shooter RPG, The Division. Released in June 2016, Underground takes players into the labyrinthine depths of New York City’s subway system, sewers, and tunnels.

Gameplay

Underground introduces a new game mode called “Incursions,” which are四人合作missions that require teamwork and coordination to complete. Incursions are more challenging than the regular missions in The Division, and they offer unique rewards for completing them.

In addition to Incursions, Underground also features new areas to explore, new enemies to fight, and new loot to collect. The underground environments are randomly generated, so each playthrough is different. This keeps the game fresh and challenging, even for players who have already completed the main game.

Story

The story of Underground takes place after the events of The Division. The agents of the Division have successfully liberated Manhattan from the Cleaners, Rikers, and LMB, but the city is still in chaos. The virus that caused the outbreak is still at large, and new threats are emerging from the shadows.

In Underground, the agents of the Division must venture into the underground to investigate reports of a new faction called the Cleaners. The Cleaners are a group of zealots who believe that the only way to cleanse the city of the virus is to burn it to the ground.

The agents must stop the Cleaners before they can carry out their plan. To do this, they must explore the underground, fight their way through hordes of enemies, and complete a series of challenging missions.

Characters

The player character in Underground is the same as in The Division. Players can choose to play as a male or female agent, and they can customize their agent’s appearance and skills.

In addition to the player character, Underground also features a number of new characters, including:

  • Faye Lau: A Division agent who is the leader of the Underground operation.
  • Hugh Riley: A Division agent who is a skilled engineer and explosives expert.
  • Kendra Lang: A Division agent who is a skilled medic and sharpshooter.

Graphics and Sound

The graphics in Underground are excellent. The underground environments are dark and atmospheric, and the character models and animations are top-notch. The sound design is also excellent, with realistic gunfire, explosions, and ambient noise.

Overall

Tom Clancy’s The Division: Underground is an excellent expansion that adds a lot of new content to the base game. The new Incursions are challenging and rewarding, the underground environments are fresh and exciting, and the new characters are well-developed. If you’re a fan of The Division, then Underground is definitely worth checking out.
